  • A brief history of PFI
Prayer for Israel began its ministry in 1969 as a response to the growing Messianic movement in Israel after the 6-day war of 1967.  Since the pioneering work of the founder Ken Burnett and his wife Lillie, PFI has seen growth in Israel from around 2 to well over 100 fellowships during these 40 years.

The first concern of PFI is prayer for Messianic and Arab believers in the Biblical Land of Israel.

Prayer partners also direct their giving to provide practical support and relieve hardship and distress in Israel and elsewhere.  Designated gifts are passed on to recipients in full.  Unallocated gifts and legacies are applied to where most needed and when necessary are used to help with operating costs.

The doctrinal basis for PFI remains:

  • The Divine inspiration of Holy Scripture (the Bible) as originally given and its supreme authority in matters of faith and conduct.

  • The unity of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit in the Godhead.

  • The universal sinfulness and guilt of human nature since the fall rendering man subject to God's wrath and condemnation.

  • Redemption from the guilt penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death (as our Representative and Substitute) of Jesus Christ the Incarnate Son of God.

  • The resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.

  • The necessity of the work of the Holy Spirit to make the death of Jesus effective to the individual sinner granting him repentance towards God and faith in Jesus Christ.

  • The indwelling and work of the Holy Spirit in the believer.

  • The re-gathering and restoration of the Nation of Israel in accordance with Biblical Prophecy.

  • The expectation of the personal return and reign on earth of the Lord Jesus Christ.

PFI has a number of aspects associated with its core aims which include:

News and Prayer Bulletin
PFI sends out a News and Prayer Bulletin every two months. One or more articles encourage believers with Biblical teaching. News items are included. The majority of the bulletin consists of 'Prayer Information'. Prayer requests are received by PFI which are then edited, set in context, and sumarised for easy reference when praying. The material is set out in seven 'strands': North and East; North and West; Central and East; Central and West; The South; National; and Ministries. Bulletins are free, but you need to sign up as a Prayer Partner to receive them.

Prayer Updates – Supplementary Prayer Material by Post; Prayer Line Service; & E-mail Service
PFI are pleased to extend the availability of Prayer Material to Prayer Partners between Bulletins. Materials will be reviewed and might receive some minimal editing before it is posted, but effectively materials will become available to you as they become available to us. There are unfortunately costs associated with providing this service, but we are keeping these to a minimum.
If you are not a registered Prayer Partner you will need to register to avail yourself of this service.
Prayer material will be sent out at least monthly, and if a large amount of material becomes available it will be sent out on that 'occasional' basis. Please contact PFI for more details.

By sending an email to pfi@prayer4i.org you can sign up for additional prayer material for one or more of the seven 'strands'.

Conferences & Conventions
PFI organizes a number of annual residential conferences at Brunel Manor, Devon, Sunbury Court, London and Redmire, North Yorkshire. The annual day convention is held in London in June.

Meetings
Other PFI Prayer & Bible teaching days are held throughout the country. These Prayer and Bible days are one day events which bring together Prayer Partners to study God's Word, to undertake focused prayer, and to enjoy Christian fellowship. Other meetings are usually held in the evening - the speakers are frequently visitors from Israel. All these are advertised in the Bulletin.

Prayer Groups
Prayer Partners are encouraged to join a local Prayer Group if possible. These groups usually meet once a month for worship and focused prayer and are led by Prayer Group Leaders.

Guided Prayer Visits to Israel & elsewhere
In May each year PFI organizes a Prayer and site-seeing visit, usually for 10 days, led by Bible teachers and accompanied by local tour guides. Local fellowships are an important focus of this visit.
Prayer Visits are organized for other times of the year, where there is the opportunity to hear first-hand the praises and prayer requests of local fellowships, so as to give focus for informed prayer.

Prayer Materials – books, videos, and audio teaching tapes
PFI provides a wide range of solid materials.

Lance Lambert's periodic updates - the "Middle East Update"
This tape update can be ordered through PFI.

Practical Support
PFI can act as a channel for designated gifts which provides practical support, or relieves hardship and distress in Israel and elsewhere.

Following the 1967 six day war friends encouraged Ken Burnett to pray for his people.  As a result of a visit to Israel some notes and prayer points were circulated. This later grew into the News and Prayer Bulletin.

In 1982 a trust, Prayer for Israel, with a board of trustees, was established with the main aims of fostering prayer, providing biblical teaching and relieving hardship and distress in Israel and elsewhere.

The work has continued strongly since then.
